Why run your robot data program onshore in the USA?

US-based data collection is the right answer when the program is bound by a regulatory regime that requires US persons on US soil. That includes ITAR-controlled defense robotics, CMMC-required DoD subcontract work, HIPAA-protected health information in surgical or clinical robotics, and certain financial-services and infrastructure use cases where state data sovereignty laws constrain where the data can be processed.

Roborax’s US onshore capability operates through Ameridial, the Fusion CX US subsidiary, with delivery centers in Ohio, North Carolina, and Indiana. US operations are purpose-built for high-compliance, high-trust work. The unit cost is higher than offshore, but for many programs the work could not be done anywhere else.

At a glance

All operators are US persons under ITAR § 120.62 · W-2 employees, background-checked per program · HIPAA BAAs available · CMMC Level 2 available · SOC 2 Type II certified · State-law DPAs for CA, CO, VA, NY, IL

Workforce profile

US operators are W-2 employees, background-checked at a level appropriate to the program: basic background check for standard work, fingerprint check for sensitive work, federal clearance-eligible for cleared programs. All operators are US persons under ITAR § 120.62. For HIPAA work, operators sign per-program confidentiality agreements and complete annual HIPAA training plus program-specific data-handling certification.

The US workforce is purpose-built for compliance: smaller pods of 4–8 operators, more senior team leads, lower throughput per operator than offshore but tighter audit trails and stronger context retention across multi-quarter programs. The same operator works on the same program for its duration — the preferred model for surgical robotics, defense applications, and programs with multi-year continuity requirements.

Compliance and regulatory

US operations are SOC 2 Type II certified. HIPAA Business Associate Agreements are available with documented operator training and OCR-aligned access controls. ITAR compliance includes US-person verification, controlled-area facility access, and segregated network infrastructure. CMMC Level 2 compliance is available for DoD subcontract work.

State-level data laws — California CCPA/CPRA, Colorado CPA, Virginia VCDPA, New York SHIELD Act, and Illinois BIPA for biometric data — are handled through state-specific data processing agreements that travel with the program.

Best use cases for US onshore

Surgical and medical robotics

HIPAA-PHI labeling, procedure-grade teleoperation data with clinician operators, and FDA-pathway documentation support.

Defense and ITAR-restricted

US-person operators in controlled-access facilities for autonomous defense and dual-use robotics programs.

Financial services robotics

State-restricted data work for financial-services automation where CCPA, NY SHIELD, or BIPA apply.

US English voice and language

Speech and language data where the deployment market is exclusively US consumers and cultural register matters.

Time zones and coordination

US operations cover all four mainland time zones (ET, CT, MT, PT) with delivery centers operating during local business hours plus extended-shift coverage for ET and CT. Programs requiring 24-hour coverage on US-restricted data are operated through three-shift US-only rotation rather than offshore handoff.

Commercial communication, reporting, and QA reviews follow US business norms. Programs are assigned a dedicated US-based ops manager as single point of contact.
